federal criminal charges. in the next few hours in a miami courtroom donald trump will be charged with 37 counts in a case brought by jack smith. at this hour the former president is in miami after spending the night at his golf resort. he s expected to motorcade to the federal courthouse nearby where he will be processed and finger presented and then appear before magistrate john goodman to enter what he said will be a not guilty. trump-appointed judge aileen cannon will preside over the trial. her past decisions on the mar-a-lago classified documents were twice overturned by the 11th circuit court of appeals with scathing opinions. trump has been striking a defiant tone since being indicted for the allege crimes including making false statements and conspiracy to obstruct justice. the former president will be joined in court by attorney todd blanch, as well as attorney chris kise. co-defendant walt nauta is expected there too. he s the personal aid accused of moving aroun
developments just coming in in the last 90 minutes or so, including the huge shake-up involving trump s defense team. about 90 minutes ago we learned two of his attorneys resigned. they were part of the team that met with jack smith on monday and trusty has been defending the former president on tv nearly every day since, including this morning. he will be represented by todd blanche. we learned trump is not the only one being charged. he has learned that his former valet is facing charges. he was a military valet in the white house. appearing to confirm a report in the wall street journal and remembered that he had come under scrutiny under shifting accounts of whether or not he had moved boxes of documents at the former president s urging. in the last hour, nbc news has confirmed that judge aileen cannon will be overseeing the case. it caused months of delay for prosecutors after the mar-a-lago search. decisions that were ultimately overturned in a scathing ruling by
a federal grand jury indicting former president donald trump for allegedly violaing the espionage act, conspiracy to obstruct and making false statements in connection to more than 100 classified documents he retained and did not turn over after leaving office. the former president facing criminal charges months after being indicted by manhattan s district attorney in connection to a hush money scandal. all while widening his lead in republican presidential primary polls in the race to face joe biden in 2024. a lot of developments in just the last few hours. at this hour, there are big changes to the trump legal team. the lawyer who spoke for mr. trump throughout last night and this morning is resigning, along with his fellow attorney, replaced by todd blanche as leader of the upcoming defense in federal court. breaking this hour, trump writing in a social media post that walt nauta, who worked at mar-a-lago, after working in the trump white house, is also under indictmen
