Civil administration to set up cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul Azha

Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Muhammad Sohail Khawaja has convened a meeting on June 29 to set up cattle markets, sale points and make arrangements in this regard for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
The Deputy Commissioner has also sought plans and suggestions from the Assistant Commissioners, Local Bodies (Metropolitan Corporation, Municipal Corporation, Municipal Committees, Tehsil Councils) and officials of Cattle Market Management Company. The implementation of section 144 is also being considered for the prevention of illegal sale points in various places of the city.
Five beggars killed in Gujranwala accident

GUJRANWALA: Five beggars were killed in a road accident in Wazirabad on Thursday.
The beggars – Azeem, 65, Reshma, 60, Dildar, 25, Dhodomai, 26, and Roshni, 21, - were standing outside an Eidgah when a speeding car hit them, killing them on the spot. The police have started investigation.
CORONA SOPS: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Sohail Khawaja said that corona SOPs would be got implemented at any cost.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that the citizens as a responsible person of the society should cooperate with the district administration and police in this regard. He said that there were 50 corona patients under treatment in the DHQ Hospital. He said that four corona patients had died during the last 24 hours.
Action ordered against factories, industrial units polluting environment

GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman has said that no one would be allowed to play with the health of the citizens and indiscriminate action should be ensured against factories, industrial units and other businesses involved in environmental pollution.
He also directed the Punjab Food Authority to adopt a solid strategy to deal with the mafia involved in the manufacture, supply and sale of substandard food items. The commissioner issued these directions while presiding over a meeting here on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Sohail Khawaja, ACG Tanveer Yaseen, Additional Director Food Authority Ali Hassan, DD Environment Omar Ashraf and other officers attended the meeting. The commissioner said that there was a lot of room for improvement in the situation of Gujranwala city in terms of pollution and sanitation and especially the factories being built in residential areas.

Commissioner for making Tepa functional in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Commissioner Saqib Manan has said that all administrative preparations should be made to make the Tepa Faisalabad function like Lahore to solve the traffic challenges.
He said this while reviewing the required resources, issues, Tepa rules, departmental strategy for its functioning and other related matters in a meeting here on Sunday.
FDA Director General Muhammad Sohail Khawaja, MPA/focal person Firdous Rai, Tepa vice chairman Sheikh Irfan, CTO Shahzada Umar Akbar, Director Development Dr Naveed Iftikhar, Metropolitan Corporation Chief Officer Naeemullah Warraich and others also attended the meeting.
The commissioner said that integrated departmental strategy was must to carry out transport planning and other related matters in a comprehensive manner as per future requirements, including installation of traffic signs and traffic education. He said that besides providing other resources, steps would be taken to procure staff for the Tepa from Punjab’s surplus pool. He said that for the success of the Tepa projects and activities, the support of the prominent community of the city should be sought while the future requirements of urban development should be taken into consideration in planning. He directed the MC chief officer to take immediate steps to rectify the bad traffic signals in the city.
FDA seals offices of nine illegal housing schemes

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Development Authorityâs enforcement team on Friday sealed the offices of nine illegal housing schemes in different areas.
Reportedly, on the directions of FDA Director General Muhammad Sohail Khawaja, the FDA team headed by Estate Office Imtiaz Ali Goraya checked the status of private housing schemes being established at Tehsil Jaranwala and Khurianwala Town. He found that Ghafoor Town, Haidar Town, Gold City, Model Town, Royal Villas and four other schemes were being established without approval of the FDA and violating rules and regulations of the authority.
