Star Spangled Brewing Co shows off new downtown brewery and taproom

Clarksville Now CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Josh Romaker of Star Spangled Brewing Co. wants to take over Tennessee’s craft beer industry, and he plans to do so from his new downtown location. The new 8,000 square-foot facility is on 614 North Spring St., next to the Humane Society of Montgomery County. It features a taproom and brewery space. Romaker said that with the new Multi-Purpose Event Center on the way, it is a good time to start a business in downtown Clarksville. The taproom, which will open summer of this year, will feature 10-12 taps featuring local craft beer in what Romaker described as a 1970s family camping aesthetic.

Section of college street to be closed until May for utility line work

Clarksville Now CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The section of College Street from N 1st Street to N 2nd Street will be closed from March 15 until May 14 for utility line removal and upgrades related to the Multi-Purpose Event Center, according to an announcement by Clarksville Gas & Water. Detour signage will be posted to direct traffic on North 1st Street and North 2nd street. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, and choose an alternate route when possible. According to Clarksville Gas & Water, the closure is part of a 60 day project to remove an underground combination utility line segment on College Street. The work in being done in cooperation with the TDOT road improvement contract.

Joe and Cathi Maynard have announced that the corner of College and Second Street will become a new, $4 million, 18,700-square-foot restaurant and bar called Shelby’s Trio. An architect’s plan for Shelby’s Trio, planned at Second and College Street. (Lyle, Cook, Martin Architects) Joe Maynard said the name “Shelby’s Trio” comes from the Maynard’s grandson, who is named Shelby, and from the family owning three Ford Shelby GT500 classic cars.
