senior leadership of the justice department, basically every senior official below the rank of acting attorney general had created a pact, they would all resign en masse. that prevented what could have been a real catastrophe. all these texts we re getting right now, all this new information that s coming out. you ve been told it s only the tip of the iceberg, it underscores how extensive this coup attempt was. this was by any means necessary, disrupt the transition of power. there were many efforts. there was this effort to try to get the state legislatures to try to go along with, the pressure on mike pence to single handedly do it on january 6th. this was an effort that was not limited to one or two people, or one or two strategies. this was a multipronged effort.
he didn t have the right to tell jim comey to stop the investigation into mike flynn. that is an obstruction of justice. he cannot justice and be above the law. that s what it means to not have a king and instead a president of the united states. ken, we were talking about possible indictments. do you think we ll see more convictions and guilty pleas? i think it is possible and i think the lawyers are bracing him for that. that s what may be behind the preemptive attacks and do i agree they re preemptive attacks against the justice department as part of an effort, a multipronged effort, frankly, to undermine the justice department and particularly the special counsel s investigation. we see it not just in the investigations for calls of
reporter: stephanie, this bill has big problems in the short term and in the long term. to pass as we ve been saying all week, the republicans can only afford to lose two senators. right now, six senators have come out and said they will not vote for this bill to pass in its final form. but before we can even get to that point, republicans have to get this bill onto the floor and open debate. they have the same problem there. they can only lose two people. and as of last night, four republican senators have said they will not vote for this bill to come to the floor. they include susan collins, the most recent of these, ron johnson, dean heller and rand paul. those last two probably two of the harder nosed for republicans to swing at at this point. but they are working very hard to swing at. sort of a multipronged effort. we know that donald trump has been on the phone with some of these republican senators. you mentioned this lunch meeting today with mitch mcconnell, senate leadershi
cleaner today. we are, however seeing some of the first signs of wildlife impacted. pelicans covered in oil. they have also told us that they re seeing lobster coated in oil. off here people actualably go shellfishing. they ve banned that for this memorial day weekend. wherever these official and white-suited cleanup croups can t get we re seeing volunteers. and you get a sense how mucky and gooey the mess is with the oil. as you see, the volunteer workers putting some of this oil literally into buckets offshore. it s a lot of work to do and then out at sea, they re going after the oil with these booms or look at them as floating fences corralling it skimming it and getting it into boats. it s a multipronged effort now and they have collected out at sea some 7,700 gallons of oil mixed with water, jake. what do we know about the company that own and operated the pipeline and how this happened?
