This is the second day in a row that the metropolis has recorded less than 2000 COVID-19 cases. The overall caseload of Mumbai now stands at 6,79,986. The city also saw a considerable drop in the number of fatalities as 51 patients succumbed to the virus on Tuesday. With that, the death toll has climbed to 13,942. On the other hand, Mumbai saw a massive number of recoveries in a single day with 6,082 coronavirus patients beating the virus and testing negative for it. The number of recoveries in the city now stands at 6,23,080.

COVID-19: BMC appeals to Mumbaikars to test more IANS / Updated: May 3, 2021, 20:23 IST Representative image Mumbai: Concerned at the sharp drop in the number of Covid-19 tests being conducted in the country's commercial capital, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC) on Monday appealed to Mumbaikars to undergo tests and help flush out the coronavirus from the city's environment. Municipal Commissioner I.S. Chahal said that the city's highest single-day testing from March 2020 till February 10 this year when the second wave hit Mumbai was 24,500. Soon afterwards, the testing shot up by more than double and touched the maximum 56,000 tests on a single day on April 21, and the previous month (April) averaged at 44,000 tests conducted daily.

Raut said that the CM conveyed this message during his several meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as through letters to Central authorities. Referring to a statement made by the Supreme Court of India, the senior leader said, "Thackeray has been saying this for a month now and it is good that even the Supreme Court has taken note of it."

Mumbai: With the COVID-19 vaccination drive operating at full pace, scores of Mumbaikars, who have already taken the first dose are now gearing up for their second jab. However, a number of beneficiaries have raised doubts if they can take the second dose of the vaccine from a centre different from the one where they had taken the first one. A netizen took to Twitter to inform Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC) officials that he was denied the second dose at a vaccine centre as he did not take the first jab there. He added that the centre turned down his request despite having an adequate stock of the vaccine.

(PTI) MUMBAI: Mumbai reported 3,876 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the lowest daily count since March 30, while 70 more patients succumbed to the infection, the city civic body said. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s updated data, with the addition of 3,876 cases, the Covid-19 tally increased to 6,31,527, while the death toll jumped to 12,853. As compared to Sunday, the metropolis has reported 1,666 fewer cases, but six more deaths. A day before, the financial capital had registered 5,542 new cases and 64 fatalities.

"In the last cabinet, we had discussed that mass vaccination should be there in the state of Maharashtra and free vaccination should be there and yesterday Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has said that we will vaccinate the entire population of the state above 18 years of age in free of cost." The Minister further said that the global tenders will be invited for the vaccinations."Definitely, he (Pawar) said the best and cheap medicine which will be provided to us globally we will purchase from them, a global tender will be there in the state of Maharashtra. The process has been started and we are trying our best to procure as earlier as possible to start the mass vaccination in the state."
