Sonu Sood to restore Juhu building status to residential from hotel | Mumbai News

Sonu Sood MUMBAI: Following a rap from Bombay high court and after withdrawing his petition before Supreme Court, actor Sonu Sood has agreed to restore the “unauthorised” six-storey Shiv Sagar building in Juhu from a hotel to residential premises. Sood’s architects have submitted a proposal to BMC to restore the change of user of the Juhu building back to residential, which Sood had allegedly converted into a hotel without necessary permission from BMC. When contacted, Sood said he will follow all the rules. Paarth Architectural Consultants have submitted the revised plans to BMC’s building proposal (BP) department. “In continuation with the approval granted by then Municipal Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi on 07.02.2020 and in the interim period before submitting the proposal to the MCZMA for their NOC, on the request of Sonu Sood, the owners of the said premises, we are in the process of compiling necessary details for submitting revised plans to the BP department,�

Shimon Peres Chowk after the late Israel President and two-time Prime Minister Shimon Peres (1923-2016), who was also the joint winner of the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize along with Yasir Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin. However, the square, renamed without fanfare around 4 months ago, ostensibly owing to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, has now led to a civic political fracas.

Former Israeli prime minister and Nobel laureate Shimon Peres (Photo credit: @PresidentPeres) MUMBAI: Despite opposition from a section of corporators, the BMC has named a junction in Kala Ghoda after former Israeli prime minister and Nobel peace prize laureate Shimon Peres. This is the first time that a prominent junction in Mumbai has been named after a foreign dignitary. The naming of the chowk after Peres has led to a fresh controversy with the SP and the Congress opposing the naming. The BMC recently put up a street sign board at the junction which read, ‘Shimon Peres Chowk’ in Kala Ghoda. The Samajwadi Party and the Congress had opposed the proposal when it was discussed in 2018 saying though Peres had been a friend of India, he didn’t have any specific connection with Mumbai or Maharashtra.

BMC mulls municipal bonds to raise cash for infrastructure projects File Image Mumbai: The cash-strapped Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is now considering issuing municipal bonds to raise funds from the share market for its ongoing infrastructure projects. The civic administration is currently working out details of the plan with various committee heads and public representatives. Already the country s richest municipal corporation has suffered more than 41 per cent loss in revenue in the first six months of the financial year 2020-21. Trying to bail itself out of this financial crisis, in September 2020, the civic body decided to dip into its reserves (in fixed deposits) to withdraw Rs 5,000 crore.
