Port Elgin became a village in 1922 following rapid growth brought by the railway and harbour. Later this year, the community of 381 people will be known by a new name as it joins six nearby local service districts to form a new entity. 

At Murray Corner Provincial Park, a project is underway with tubes and pipes flushing that wastewater directly into a marsh. It has captured the attention of nearby residents who want to know if it could impact water quality.
