Lingayat seer Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru of the Murugha Math was arrested after an FIR was registered against a total of five people, including the warden of the monasterys hostel, based on the complaint by an officer of the District Child Protection Unit. 

The judge remanded the seer to 14 days judicial custody following which he was sent to the district prison

Sharanaru has been accused of sexual exploitation of two girls.
