okay. so, let me introduce my guest. cnn chief national security correspondent brian leaven is here and the center from the and kasheem the spokesman for the muslim community usa and harvard fellow. welcome to all of you. jim, i want to start with you. because a lot of americans have made up their mind that this was terrorism and somehow it was connected to isis. some americans aren't so sure. maybe it was workplace violence and fueled by something else. what are authorities saying? >> here's what authorities say. number one, fact is they don't know. they just don't know at this point. so, people have to keep an open mind because the investigators are keeping an open mind. that said, they are leaving both possible explanations out there as credible at this point. it's possible that it was workplace violence or that it was some sort of domestic terrorism or international terrorism or, and this is interesting, this would be
the muslim community usa. let's continue to talk about solutions. what concrete measures can be taken within the muslim community to prevent violence being waged in the name of islam? >> i think it is a time for muslims to respond by one of our fundamental duties to society. muslims have duty to them maker and their society. this is a role for leadership and individual muslims in america. we have to participate in exposing these extreme behaviors which i term islamism. they are not islam but hiding amongest us and being veiled by us. it's not a matter only for the leadership. we know from parents whose children have become radicalized. american muslim parents have
