Mystic The owner of pizza restaurants in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Westport is seeking approval to turn a closed Dunkin shop on Route 1 into his third location.
Ignazio s Mystic LLC and its principal, Louis Termini, is seeking a special use permit for the 64-seat restaurant.
And across the street, Mystic Royal, a international Halal fusion restaurant, is seeking approval to have 45 seats as opposed to the eight it has now.
The Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission will schedule public hearings on both applications. Both Ignazio s and Mystic Royal are seeking liquor permits.
In the application, Ignazio s stated it would be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. six days a week, with it closed on Monday. It stated this would be a 50% reduction in hours and traffic compared to the Dunkin, especially in the morning. Fifty-two seats would be indoors and 12 on an outdoor patio at the 42 Williams Ave. location.
