Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said a Russian attack on his country's energy sector on Saturday had targeted gas facilities important for supply to the European Union.
The European Union will have plenty of gas in stock next winter and the remaining buyers of Russian pipeline gas in central Europe are working on alternative imports in case transit via Ukraine stops from January, analysts and companies said.
In a move to modernize thermal power plants (TPPs) and develop a joint wind energy project, Ukraine’s state-owned oil and gas group Naftogaz has signed memorandums with two Japanese corporations, Naftogaz announced on Feb. 19.
"We have recorded a large-scale cyberattack on one of the data centers used by our companies. The website and the call center are currently down," Naftogaz said.

Naftogaz Group predicts contributions to the state budget in the amount of over UAH 5 billion based on the performance of gas distribution network operators under its control in 2024.
Fitch Ratings has upgraded National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz Ukrainy's (Naftogaz) Long-Term Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to 'CC' from 'RD' (Restricted Default) following the completion of its eurobond restructuring, the company said on its website.
