A protester opposed to the U.S. military presence on Okinawa has been indicted on charges of making threats and brandishing a metal object resembling a pipe bomb in May outside the U.S. Consulate in Naha.
A U.S. airman on Okinawa accused of stealing the equivalent of $8 from a vehicle in mid-January is also suspected of starting a tool shed fire the same night, a Japanese police spokesman said.
