Prairie Home News February 15, 2021 The Prairie Home Swimming Pool is bringing back Speedy Petey Mouse Races! This unique fundraiser returns on Saturday, March 6 at the Jamestown Community Building. $10 not only covers admission, but also includes a drink, a slice of pizza, a raffle ticket, and an action packed evening of fun! Doors will open at 6 pm with races from 7-10 pm. Be sure to check the Prairie Home Pool Facebook page for all the latest information. The Prairie Home FACS room has been in need of new ranges. FACS teacher Vicki Nave turned to DonorsChoose.org, a website where teachers can post classroom project requests, and donors from all over choose the ones they want to support. Each project is fully vetted by DonorsChoose before it is approved and posted. Nave titled the project “We Want to Cook! NEWS FROM PRAIRIE HOME: Bikes for Books drawing

Nancy Kixmiller Prairie Home January 4, 2021 Prairie Home School had their first semester Bike for Books drawing on December 22. The lucky winners were Logan Waibel and Kyleigh Thompson. Be sure to check the Prairie Home RV website, www.prairiehome.k12.mo.us, for the latest school information. See the live feed for any last minute changes to schedules. The City of Prairie Home has posted in-city monthly utility rates effective January 2021: DRINKING WATER: $16 per month for the first 1000 gallons and $8 (a $1 increase over 2020) for each additional 1000 gallons. A water meter deposit is required for new service. SEWER: $37.50 per month. SOLID WASTE (bag pickup): $13.00 for residence and $16 for commercial business. Trash pick-up is on normally on Tuesday each week. Bags need to be curbside by 7 am. Prairie Home News: Christmas festivities abound

Nancy Kixmiller The Prairie Home Music Department presented its Christmas Program on Dec. 15. The kindergarten class got things going with “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” by Johnny Marks and “Jingle Bells” arranged by T. and P. Jennings. The first, second, and third grades combined for “A Holiday of Music” and “Listen to the Jingles” both by Teresa Jennings. The kindergarten came back to join the older students for a rousing rendition of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” arranged by Teresa Jennings. Fourth grade played recorders. Their selections, both by John Riggio, were “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” and “Fum, Fum, Fum.  The fifth and sixth grade handbells performed two more Riggio arrangements, “Good King Wenceslas” and “Deck the Halls.

Prairie Home News: Beta Club holds food drive

Nancy Kixmiller Special to Boonville Daily News The Prairie Home High School Beta Club recently sponsored a food drive benefiting The Mustard Seed Food Pantry. Students collected 1,715 items and $514. The third and ninth grades won class competitions.  Students Oliver Lock, Colton Searles, Luke Stewart and Kelsey Watson, accompanied by Beta Club Sponsor Melody Paulson and Superintendent Scott Gemes, delivered what was collected Dec. 11 to the pantry. The Mustard Seed Food Pantry had its monthly distribution on Thursday, December 17 from 4-6 pm at Prairie Home United Methodist Church, 540 Highway Drive. Sign in was under the awning at the back of the church. Masks are requested and social distancing will be observed. Those receiving food at no charge had to bring a photo ID, proof of address (such as a utility bill), and Social Security cards for each member of the household.
