Gabrielle Trudel’s first day was June 1.
Trudel told council she has about five years of experience as a community peace officer (CPO), with her last CPO job being in Spruce Grove.
For the last year Trudel said she held a position with the Alberta government’s Ministry of Children’s Services, working with vulnerable youth. Trudel said she had applied to the Town of Vulcan for the CPO job about a year ago, when the Town hired former CPO Tim Daw was hired. Daw, whose last day was May 14, resigned to pursue further education, and is attending the University of Calgary starting in the fall.

Urban chickens are not currently allowed in Vulcan, but making them legal to own in town would be considered if someone passionate enough came forward with a proposal says the Town of Vulcan’s development officer.
Nancy Neufeld says there’s been “a lot of chatter” on Facebook about urban chickens, but a request to make them legal to own in Vulcan has not come forward yet to the Town for consideration.
