Candidates are displaying their political lineages quite openly. At the entry gate of its election office in Jhunjhunu assembly seat, the Congress has displayed the photographs of the state transport and safety minister Brijendra Singh Ola and his father, the late Sis Ram Ola, who was once a former union minister, in its banner.

The trend can be attributed to a large extent to the significant lack of party loyalty among voters which encourages leaders to jump ship. A family member who has been rejected in favour of another is not reluctant to seek nomination from the other party despite the family being traditionally aligned with the other party.

In the lead-up to the Rajasthan assembly elections, a unique trend is emerging as family members face off in political contests, often switching allegiances between the BJP and Congress. In Dholpur, two family members, Shobharani Kushwah and Dr. Shivcharan Kushwah, now represent opposing parties after cross-party shifts. In Dungarpur, a nurse and a doctor, former colleagues, are now rivals. In Danta Ramgarh, a husband and estranged wife compete for the same seat.

Sporadic clashes were reported across the state and an aide of a Congress worker was killed after two groups fought in the Rajnagar constituency of Chhatarpur.
