Virginia lawmakers have pushed forward a state resolution to designate racism as a public health crisis to Gov. Ralph Northam s desk.  House Joint Resolution 537, sponsored by central Virginia Delegate Lashrecse Aird, awaits Gov. Northam s signature. The measure, if signed, would enact five policies toward fighting systemic racism in Virginia. “Historically, and also through legal history, racism has been the thread inside the fabric of America, Dr. Eric Claville said, Director of the Center for African American Public Policy at Norfolk State University.
