The Dutch would come away with third place with two champions while Oskaloosa finished sixth with a runner-up. Norwalk would take the team title with seven individual champs. Pella had a great opening round with 10 of their wrestlers advancing to the semifinals. There they would run into some tough competition as only four made it to the finals. Damion Clark claimed Pella’s first title at 113 pounds. He picked up a 16-2 major decision in the quarterfinals before getting a second period fall over No. 6 (1A) Connor Golston of Moravia in the semifinals.

Pella Wrestling Dominant at Newton; Bowling Teams Again Split with Centerville

The Pella wrestling team opened the Little Hawkeye Hawkeye in dominant fashion, winning over Newton 59-18 on the road Tuesday. Pella found wins by fall from Ryan Hancock at 126, Nathan Born at 152, and Ethan Milligan at 170. T.R. Putz also scored a technical fall in a 16-0 win at the 132 weight class. The head-to-head win gives Pella an 8-3 dual record, and they’ll return home for the annual Bill Van Horn invitational Saturday morning. For the second time in five days, the Dutch bowling teams split with Centerville, this time in the Tulip City. Pella’s boys won 2198-1975, while the Lady Dutch fell 1958-1833. Jayden Divelbiss scored 324 over his two individual games, followed by Konner Vander Werf and his 301 pin performance. The girls improved their overall score by 209 pins since they last faced the Big Reds this past Thursday, led by a two-game tally of 273 pins for Sierra Vnader Weerdt and Anna De Nooy’s 250.
