A lawyer for a Hillsborough man on trial for murder says they don't expect to call any further evidence. Calvin Andrew Lewis is charged with first-degree murder in the May 2, 2020, stabbing death of Tina Tingley-McAleer in Hillsborough, south of Moncton.

Six criminal charges were withdrawn against a Saint John man behind the wheel during a 2019 crash that killed three passengers. Saumil Prashantkumar Shah pleaded guilty to a single charge under the Motor Vehicle Act instead.

A murder trial in Moncton on Monday moved into legal arguments about whether hearsay statements from the victim regarding threats from the man accused of killing her can be used in the case.

The Crown finished presenting its evidence in Calvin Lewis's murder trial on Friday after showing a second RCMP interview recorded the day after the alleged crime.

The first three Crown witnesses testified that Calvin Lewis was repeatedly threatening and violent toward his partner Tina Tingley-McAleer prior to her 2020 death.

A man set to stand trial on a charge of first-degree murder next week called 911 and told the operator he had just killed his partner, Tina Tingley-McAleer, in May 2020.

A Saint John police officer, accused of using excessive force during an arrest last summer, has elected to be tried by a judge and jury.

Brian James (B.J.) Marriott has pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault in relation to an incident at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Centre in Dartmouth, N.S., in December 2019.
