New york city was predicted to get about six to nine. It could see 12 to 18 before it is all over. The radar makes it look like the storm is aiming at the most populous part of the country. 22million will be digging out the country. At least nine people have died in storm related crashes across four states. The california Highway Patrol has reported 1200 crashes so far. Virginia state police more than 800. Washington dc is already waving the white flag on transit canceling rail and bus service. This storm has the potential of being the biggest in dc history. Witnesses heard the crash, felt the fireball and watched as the driver of that truck bolted from the scene. Police call it a hitandrun leaving his injured passenger behind. Somebody was running down the opposite way. The car almost i was worried about getting him away. Reporter inside that police car, officer mark kimsey was trapped, the flames growing. I saw it was a cop careneand started sprinting. Reporter they rushed over and pulled the injured officer from the burning car. Chambers says he doesnt regret what he did. The door wouldnt open. The car caught fire and me and another guy ran we were already there. He said he couldnt feel his legs. So we said, were going to have to drag you through the window. And he was ready for it. Reporter police say the teen may have saved the officers life. He ran directly into the flames while cops are looking for that hitandrun driver last seen running the other way.
