As final homestands go, this one promises to be memorable.
The University of New Mexico baseball team will hold a final send-off for coach Ray Birmingham and 15 seniors this weekend with a season-ending three-game series against San Diego State.
The Lobos and Aztecs will play a Friday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m., then wrap up the series with a noon contest Saturday at Santa Ana Star Field. The latter game will be senior day and the final game for Birmingham, who has announced his retirement effective at season’s end.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. The University of New Mexico baseball has been on the road for a majority of the season and will finally be back at Santa Ana Star Field for a three-game home series this weekend versus Utah Valley. This will be just the sixth non-conference opponent that the Lobos will face this season, with UNM currently leading the series versus Utah Valley 4-1.
