There are officially 12 island residents who have died from complications of COVID-19. These are the five who were publicly identified as having died from the disease.
Carole L. Brookins, a Wall Street pioneer and a former executive director at the World Bank, died March 23, 2020. She was 76. Ms. Brookins began her financial career in Chicago and eventually joined E.F. Hutton, then the nation s second-largest stock brokerage firm. At a time when few women were among Wall Street s executives, she rose to become E.F. Hutton s vice president of the commodities division. In 1980, Ms. Brookins left Wall Street to create World Perspectives, a Washington, D.C.-based agricultural market analysis and consulting firm. From 2001 to 2005, she served as executive director of the World Bank, representing the United States.
