National Childrenâs Mental Health Awareness Day, held this year on May 7, raises awareness regarding the importance of mental wellness for children and young people. The plain truth is that for our citizens, our communities and state to prosper, we must have healthy brains; and, that process for ensuring brain health begins early in life, when our brains are developing.Â

For citizens, our communities and state to prosper, we must have healthy brains; and, that process for ensuring brain health begins early in life, when our brains are developing.
Emotional and mental health is important because it’s a vital part of life and impacts thoughts, behaviors and emotions. Being emotionally healthy can promote productivity and effectiveness in activities such as work, school or caregiving.
The event is free, but attendees are asked to register their party so organizers know about how many people to expect.

Burrell has been working closely with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department to ensure COVID-19 precautions are in place, Greig said. Hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial wipes will be available and all the food will be pre-packaged.
Activities include mental health wellness stations, self-care activities for kids (and kids at heart), a balloon artist, and more. We will have kid yoga. Pet Therapy of the Ozarks is going to come out, Greig said. MSU football team s sending a few people to come and run some drills and talk about physical health. We ve got different self-regulating activities that are fun but also kids can learn how these things help take care of their mental health.

A dedication ceremony for the True Buddy Bench at the Middleborough Memorial Early Childhood Center will be held on Friday, May 7 at 5pm, which is National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day.
The bench will be dedicated in the name of Middleborough Public Schools employee Renee True.T he bench is located in the preschool community garden behind the MECC.
“Renee True was a beloved member of our community who drove the special needs students of Middleboro for over 13 years. She made a lasting and loving impression on every family she met,” said Shelley Berard, who organized fundraising for the bench and is planning the dedication.
