Two Delaware high school students have been selected to participate in the 2021 U.S. Senate Youth Program.
Augustus Laird Fadden of Indian River High School and Justin Xu of the Charter School of Wilmington will represent Delaware in the first-ever virtual Senate Youth Program, March 14-17.
Fadden and Xu were chosen to represent the state by the Delaware Department of Education after being nominated by a teacher or principal.
Nationwide, 104 student leaders (two from each state) were selected for the program and will each receive a $10,000 scholarship for undergraduate study.
The U.S. Senate Youth Program aims to give participants a better understanding of the American political process and instill in them a lifelong commitment to public service.
