Ellis County body votes to contest municipal utility district near Ennis Waxahachie Daily Light The creation of a new municipal utility district drew opposition from Ellis County Commissioners during a fast-moving regular bi-weekly meeting on Tuesday. Following an executive session, county elected leaders voted to contest the establishment of the new municipal utility district, or MUD, within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city of Ennis located off FM 984. The commissioners also voted to contest all sewage and other permits associated with what is known as Ellis County MUD FM 984. No reason for the opposition was publicly stated during the meeting.

The Mitchell Board of Education has approved a purchase to provide students and staff at Mitchell Technical College with several items of fitness equipment for a new fitness center. The decision was made at the latest regular meeting of the board Monday. The equipment, purchased at a cost of about $80,474.03, which includes preventative maintenance and warranty, will include 11 pieces of cardio equipment, 18 pieces of strength equipment and 31 pieces of accessory equipment. The purchase is being made from Nova Fitness Equipment of Omaha, Nebraska. “This is part of the fitness center project, the second phase of the student lounge (renovation) in the Muth Electric Technology Center,” said Jared Hofer, CFO of Mitchell Technical College.
