Health ministry fears big dengue rise in 23

The dengue fever situation may escalate this year, warned an official from the Ministry of Health’s National Dengue Control Programme (NDCP). A thorough cleanup of mosquito habitats in all communities will be necessary if this is to be avoided.

Dengue cases on rise this year, claim 16 lives

So far this year, Cambodia has recorded at least 9,482 cases of dengue fever – a nearly tenfold increase over the same period in 2021 – with 16 deaths, all of them children under the age of 15.

Dengue fever cases up threefold

In a little more than six months, dengue fever cases have risen to nearly 3,000 and killed several people. This was a threefold increase over the same period last year, according to the National Dengue Control Programme (NDCP).

Public warned of dengue fever

The National Dengue Control Programme (NDCP) reminded people to be vigilant against dengue fever, as the first five months of this year saw more than 1,200 confirmed cases of the disease, an increase of about 300 compared to the same period last year.

Dengue cases sharply drop

In 2021, nearly 2,000 cases of dengue fever were detected, while the number of deaths nationwide was eight, a significant reduction over the previous year, according to the National Centre for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control (NCM). The figures were revealed at the NCM’s 2021 work review and 2022 work direction meeting held in Siem Reap province on February 22.
