Uzbekistan cherry exports to Singapore; how sustainable is it?
The news from the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan that, for the first time in the country’s history, Uzbek cherries were exported to Singapore seemed encouraging. Certainly given the recent information on the accelerating collapse of prices for cherries in Uzbekistan. The prices for Uzbek cherries in supermarkets in Singapore were $ 8.8 per package weighing 0.5 kg, i.e. $ 17.6 per kg.
It is very obvious that the export of cherries outside post-Soviet countries allows growers to get a higher price than when it is supplied to Russia or Kazakhstan, which means that both large and small farmers can increase their income.
Preparations Fit For A President
According to several local reporters in Qarshi, the southern Uzbek city recently welcomed the first daughter with elaborate preparations fit for a head of state.
Extensive preparations began a week before Mirziyoeva s January 27 visit as part of her Eyes of the Heart charity project, which supports blind and visually impaired children.
The Center for Journalists, where Mirziyoeva was scheduled to attend an event, was abruptly renovated, the journalists told RFE/RL, speaking on condition of anonymity.
