The National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research & Innovation, recently organised its 25th anniversary event with the theme "Metrology for the Food Industry: From Thai Kitchen to the World's Kitchen." The event aimed to showcase Thailand's measurement capabilities, which are poised to support Thai entrepreneurs in meeting international standards.

Pornchai Suteerakune, Director, National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), or NIMT, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research & Innovation, presided over the opening of MEDEA 3.0: Metrology – Enabling Developing Economies in Asia's Calibration Capabilities for Infusion/Syringe Pump Analyzers, and 2nd Workshop on Testing Procedures of Infusion Pump and Calibration Procedure Guidelines of Infusion Device Analyzer and Preparation of Pilot Study on Infusion Device Analyzer Comparison, held from 3 to 5 April 2023 in Thailand in cooperation with Metrology – Enabling Developing Economies in Asia (MEDEA) and APMP (Asia Pacific Metrology Programme) Medical Metrology Focus Group.

However, several threats such as volatile weather conditions, falling rice prices, high production costs, overuse of chemicals in farming that deteriorates soil quality, and fierce competition from nearby countries such as Vietnam, affect the sector’s performance. Even with government help, such challenges persist, requiring clear and proactive policies and effective solutions to overcome them.
