The ruling by a federal judge to reverse the FDA approval of popular abortion medication mifepristone has pushed states to take quick measures to secure access to the drug or alternatives.
Last June, the Supreme Court stripped away the federal right to abortion. As if the Dobbs decision wasn’t enough, a Texas federal judge suspended the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone on Friday, a safe and effective drug used in the U.S. for more than 20 years by more than 4.9 million people to end early pregnancies.
