No major disruptions, looting or attacks on shops were reported on Friday, according to the government’s National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (Natjoints), which co-ordinates law enforcement operations.
This comes as unsigned messages and posters are circulating on social media platforms calling for a shutdown, partly in protest against the high fuel price.
In a statement issued on Thursday,, the structure confirmed that no applications for permits to protest were submitted to necessary authorities by any grouping in society.
The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure has warned residents there will be limited access in areas around the Sandton Convention Centre from Wednesday evening to Thursday night as the fourth SA Investment Conference is set to begin.
