His talk today will be on what he calls the law of amplification. So its a very interesting talk because, you know, here at mit our motto is let us build technology and, obviously, that will solve all of the worlds problems. Technology is important, but its also important to think about what is the impact of the technology and how do we design the technology in the best way we can. So today we have kentaro, who is a professor at the university of Michigan School of information. He also founded Microsoft Research india, where he created a group that did technology for emerging markets. His talk today will be on the law of am mixification. I would like to very much agree with an with the gentle lady said the first speaker about the need for the i supervisors to get out into the fields so to speak. Where the Public Housing problems are growing. Where there is a lot of fear about people losing their Public Housing and on top of that fear of losing their Public Housing theres also the additional stress if they lose the Public Housing theyre basically not going to being able to afford finding another place to live in San Francisco. Were losing so many of our wonderful vibrant folks across the many spectrums their gay or separate and blaerd and old and young weve not addressed the problems with the Public Housing such things as the accelerator working and the folks who live on the top floor many are elderly they cant get in and out of their apartments on a regular basis to make considers appointments and foods and see friends. This measure if we pass it today will be the strongly e cigarette legislation on any city in the united states. I wanted to thank the Youth Institute tobacco reduce like malaysia centers and the commissioners and many others from the b y d c and the grassroots for helping to educate me. Last december i introduced this legislation to strike it in San Francisco it will amended the Current Health care and prohibit the Electronic Cigarettes where smoking is prohibited. Im going to do a demonstration so i can see the simulation like at about Electronic Devices side when you inhale it a little light goes on and it emits a substance that has nicotine and other harm fill toxins in the room. Its important i had a banana flafrd one but other flavors from bubble gum and gummy bears and other flavors are not targeted at elders their targeted at the teens and youth. Different billboards that are in our coalition have put up over the year the e cigarettes are being sold in American People wild west
And it sounds good by why dont you come out to the community and talk to the folks that live there are theres the ones that are going through the trauma. And i was at a funeral today we were burying two to three people a week from the toxins in the air. The tenants can tell you you much better. I know recently were going through bad things about phase 1, 2, 3 and western edition about the rosa parks. We know that in this city our Public Housing is not being managed for all people correctly. I think the people in bayview Hunters Point out there really know theyre kind of like the last mohegans but were the test examples of Public Housing in district 6, you know, as we live in section 8 we dont get the rights of section 8 theyre putting us and taking the money and putting us in the smallest darn room th
