Good morning and welcome to the Sprout, where it’s National Peking Duck Day. If that’s not really up your sleeve, yesterday was national Hot Buttered Rum Day — which, during these pandemic times, we think can definitely be extended by at least one day.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has sent supplementary mandate letters to his ministers. Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau has received new instructions to work with several of her cabinet colleagues, including the minister of northern affairs, to fight food insecurity in Canada.
