Malcolm Turnbull has been axed from his new job as chair of the NSW Net-Zero Emissions and Clean Economy Board.
The former Liberal prime minister, who was appointed to the five-year role just last week, has ruffled coalition feathers by supporting a moratorium on new coal mines in NSW.
Mr Turnbull blamed his axing on the right-wing media ecosystem . It s just thuggery, he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian stressed that while she admired and respected Mr Turnbull, his appointment unfortunately for everyone concerned . was proving to be a distraction .
She dodged a question about whether the decision had been made in a bid to win the looming Upper Hunter by-election, in a seat where the mining industry was a major employer.

Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has been removed from his position as chair of the New South Wales (NSW) Net-Zero Emissions and Clean Economy Board, only a week after his appointment.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said that while she admired and respected Turnbull, his appointment “unfortunately for everyone concerned … was proving to be a distraction.”
The removal came hours after The Daily Telegraph published a letter from Turnbull objecting to the expansion of a coal mine in the upper Hunter Valley region near his personal property.
Turnbull said he and his wife made the submission as “long-term landowners in the district and in no other capacity” and rejected any conflict of interest.
