“These grants are making sure Native Hawaiian organizations have federal resources to integrate Native Hawaiian culture into visitor experiences and drive sustainable tourism opportunities throughout the state,” said Sen. Schatz, chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs.

The Department of the Interior’s Office of Native Hawaiian Relations announced the awarding of $1 million in grants to eight Native Hawaiian organizations to implement the Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience Act.

The Department of the Interior’s Office of Native Hawaiian Relations estimates that it will award eight HŌʻIHI grants ranging between $50,000 and $200,000. Native Hawaiian Organizations may use grant funding for up to three years from the date of award.
