The Morrison Government’s Naval Shipbuilding College has joined forces with Australia’s defence industry to create an online jobs portal showcasing the breadth of opportunities generated by the Government’s booming naval shipbuilding program.
Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price said the new JobsPortal would make it easier for Australian jobseekers to move into exciting careers in the shipbuilding sector, with opportunities ranging from trades to PhDs.
“By 2030 about 15,000 workers across the country will be employed in Australia’s National Naval Shipbuilding Enterprise, carrying out the largest regeneration of our naval fleet since the Second World War,” Minister Price said.

Careers expo provides path to success
Thousands of school students and job seekers will descend on the Adelaide Showgrounds over the next two days to take part in the Adelaide Careers and Employment Expo.
More than 80 training organisations, employers and interactive skills zones will showcase traditional and growth industries and training and career pathways available, at the free-to-register event.
“There are more job vacancies in South Australia than ever before and the Expo is a fantastic way to explore career options in some of the state’s fastest-growing industries,” said Minister Pisoni.
“Having a job often leads to more job opportunities in the future, so I urge anyone looking for work or thinking about a change of career to get along to the Adelaide Showgrounds and see the range of opportunities that exist.

Workers whose employment has been impacted by COVID-19 will be provided with pathways into exciting and sustainable careers in the naval shipbuilding sector under a $5 million program to be delivered by the Morrison Government.
The new program is part of the Government’s $1 billion investment package to boost Australia’s defence industry workforce to 70,000 and support thousands of jobs across the country.
Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price said while the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted many Australians, the Morrison Government was growing the defence industry workforce to further support small and medium sized enterprises across the country.
