ISLAMABAD: Following the introduction of eight private members bills, the opposition staged a walkout in the National Assembly on Tuesday against tabling of three presidential ordinances which were later extended for another 120 days.
The opposition and the treasury members exchanged harsh words over the Journalists’ Protection Bill presented by Human Rights Minister Dr Shireen Mazari as it claimed that it was an old bill but the government wanted to take credit for it.
Soon after the walkout, opposition member Ibrar Ali Shah pointed out the quorum and the session started after 20 minutes.

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly session was prorogued abruptly on Friday without passing or debating a resolution on expulsion of the ambassador of France over publication of blasphemous caricatures in a French magazine.
The opposition members registered protest, gathering in front of the speaker’s dias after their leaders were not given the floor to speak on the points of order. Amid strong sloganeering from the opposition members, Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri prorogued the session within 15 minutes of proceedings.
Opposition leaders Ahsan Iqbal and Raja Parvaiz Ashraf wanted to speak on the points of order on exclusion of a resolution on the sanctity of the holy prophet (SAW). Opposition members including Naveed Amir Jeeva, Afzal Khokhar and Zahra Wadood Fatemi refused to ask their supplementary questions, requesting the chair to give floor to Raja Parvaiz Ashraf and Ahsan Iqbal.
