(Tecumseh, NE) A Nebraska death row inmate has died.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says Saturday morning, 55 year old Arthur Gales died at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution. His sentence started December 9th, 2003. Gales was sentenced to death on charges out of Douglas County that included two counts of first degree murder and a count of second degree murder.
Gales was found guilty in the November 2000 murders of 13 year old Latara Chandler and 7 year old Tramar Chandler and the attempted murder of their mother Judy Chandler. at the time, prosecutors and investigators said that Gales beat Judy nearly to death, then killed her two children as they were witnesses to his crime.

With Newsradio 1110 KFAB as her platform, Nebraska Republican U.S. Senator Deb Fischer announces she will not run for Governor, seeking to continue to serve on Capitol Hill. The Senate is where I want to continue to serve. So, no, I am not running for Governor, Fischer said Thursday on KFAB s Morning News.
The Senator said, I love the work I do; I am a legislator; I am a policymaker.
Fischer went on to thank the people who encouraged her to run for Governor.
Incumbent Pete Ricketts cannot run because of term limits.

(Undated) The Iowa State Patrol is sharing yet another photo of a driver, clocked driving well over the posted speed. The I-S-P says the early morning driver was stopped going 101 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone, on I-35 in southern Iowa.
The I-S-P says the driver had alcohol and marijuana in their system.
The State Patrol says there has been an ongoing trend of excessive speeding since the pandemic shutdowns a year ago.

(Undated) A multi-state effort s underway to address a pandemic trend of excessive speeding. The Iowa State Patrol says speeding citations have risen by more than 100-percent throughout the pandemic. ISP Sergeant Alex Dinkla says the trend started during the COVID-19 lockdowns, and have continued. He says in many instances, drivers have been stopped going over 100-miles per hour.
