A total of 19 bodies have so far been recovered in rescue operations at the Draupadi ka Danda mountain peak, in Uttarakhand s Uttarkashi district, where an avalanche hit a team of mountaineers on October 4 morning, according to officials.
Army, IAF, NIM, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, High Altitude Warfare School (Jammu and Kashmir) and State Disaster Response Force along with the district administration are conducting the search operations that were launched hours after the avalanche struck on Tuesday. The operation to rescue the mountaineers stuck on the Draupadi ka Danda mountain peak in Uttarakhand s Uttarkashi district, where an avalanche hit on October 4, was delayed due to bad weather conditions on Friday morning.
Three more bodies were recovered from the site of an avalanche here, taking the death countto 19, the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering said on Friday.
Uttarakhand avalanche update: Out of the 19 bodies, four bodies were brought to the summit camp by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team deployed for the rescue operation, while 15 bodies were recovered at the place of the incident.
