KATHMANDU, Oct 5: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal joined Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) CEO Alice P Albright to attend a celebration hosted by MCA-Nepal on Wednesday to mark the launch of implementation for the MCC Nepal Compact, which is jointly funded by the Government of Nepal and the MCC.

Prime Minister Dahal has said MCC-funded projects have paved the way for new opportunities in areas of economic cooperation between Nepal and the US.

​​​​​​​Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, has pledged the government’s unwavering support for Nepal’s transmission line project, backed by the grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Alice P. Albright, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the American project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), is set to arrive in Kathmandu on Sunday for a five-day visit. This visit is taking place six years after the signing of the agreement between the United States of America and the Government of Nepal, with the implementation phase having commenced on August 29, 2022.

The once controversial U.S. program has largely slipped from the public’s eye in the years following its ratification by the Nepali Parliament.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)-Nepal Compact, a U.S. funded project to develop a high-voltage transmission line and 300-km long road project, entered into force from August 30, with MCC Vice-president of Compact Operations Cameroon Alford and Nepal’s Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat exchanging a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday

A 315-km transmission line and upgrade of a part of the East-West Highway to be carried out with $697 million in joint funding by the US and Nepal.
