Netflix’ audio-only feature was first discovered back in October
Netflix is reportedly getting an audio-only mode that will disable the ongoing video for a podcast-like experience. The feature was first discovered in an APK breakdown from back in October and now it seems like the feature has started to roll out. This feature is coming to the Netflix app on Android devices and there is no information on if and when this feature will make its way to iOS platform. The ability to go into an audio-only mode could be an useful feature for some users.
Netflix may be attempting to take on podcasts, as the streaming giant is launching an audio-only option to its Android app.
Android Policereports that the new option is appearing as a server-side option for some users around the world who are now seeing a âVideo Offâ button. Once you click on this button, youâll be left with audio-only playback as the screen goes black.
Users are also able to toggle the feature by going into the app settings and selecting the âAudio Onlyâ option. After you click on the button, you can choose between âAlways On,â âHeadphones or External Speakersâ and âOff.â
