Beta Sigma Phi chapter honors Barbara Henriksen of Rehoboth

January 16, 2021 The Xi Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi recently named Barbara Henrikson of Rehoboth Beach its Girl of the Year. SUBMITTED PHOTO Each year, the members of Xi Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Lewes, vote for the member they feel has best exemplified the attributes of the sorority, and who gave the most time and effort to its activities, fundraisers and programs. Barbara Henriksen of Rehoboth Beach was selected as the chapter’s Girl of the Year. Henriksen joined the sorority in 1964 in Bowie, Md., and later transferred to the local chapter after moving to this area. She has held all offices in her chapters, and she recently received an award from the international office for 54 years of perfect attendance at meetings.

Governor s Outstanding Volunteers Awards set Jan 18

January 9, 2021 Governor’s Outstanding Volunteer Awards will be presented to 21 individuals, seven groups and two businesses during a virtual ceremony at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 18. The recipients will be recognized for significant contributions, engagement and impact in diverse activities. It is indeed a privilege to honor these individuals, organizations and businesses for their selfless work on behalf of others,” said Gov. John Carney. “Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year has been an especially trying one. That’s made the work of our volunteers all the more important and valued. I deeply appreciate the effort they put forth every day throughout our state to make Delaware stronger and a better place to call home.”
