New Jersey residents between the ages of 12 and 15 became eligible for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Wednesday. Over 170 CVS pharmacies in New Jersey began offering appointments and walk-ins for COVID vaccines for these age groups on Thursday. New Jersey residents looking for a coronavirus vaccine can likely find an opportunity to do so without traveling too far and may not even need to make an appointment, as vaccine availability increases and the number of people seeking shots decreases.
Vaccine sites that have started accepting walk-in appointments include the 324 CVS locations and 68 Walmart and Sam’s Club locations across the state, both of which began taking walk-ins earlier this week. All six of New Jersey’s coronavirus vaccine mega-sites are also offering walk-in appointments.

have been fully vaccinated for the coronavirus as vaccine appointments continue to open across the state.
All New Jersey residents ages 16 and older are eligible for the vaccine. Individuals ages 16 and 17 must schedule an appointment to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which is the only vaccine in the United States approved for ages 16 and older. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are recommended for residents ages 18 and older.

Dr. Pamela Clarke, who runs Newark Community Health Centers, said information campaigns must stress the vaccine s protection against serious disease.
The vaccination rate in Newark and Essex County could use some pumping up. As of a few weeks ago, only about 22% of people 18 and older had been vaccinated in the county.
All adults became eligible on April 19, but Dr. Pamela Clarke, head of Newark Community Health Centers, said there is a lot of reluctance out there.
“We still have to push,” she said. “Don’t feel deterred by the fact that people are still in wait mode. We’ve got to keep presenting to people the facts.”
