The National Green Tribunal (NGT) recently directed the government of Punjab to submit a revised action plan for the mitigation of air pollution due to stubble burning in the State.
An office order by the NGT, dated January 20, declares that all benches, offices, and registries of the tribunal will remain closed until 2:30 pm on January 22.
The Tribunal observed that despite repeated queries, counsel for MoEF&CC could not enlist a single step taken by the Ministry for effective control of air pollution.
The Supreme Court stayed an order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that directed the State of Maharashtra to pay ₹12,000 crore as environmental compensation for improper waste management.
