Virtual panel discussion about homelessness in Lubbock on Wednesday

A panel of local homeless advocates and providers will be discussing past actions to help people experiencing homelessness, and what next steps should be taken to address homelessness. The virtual discussion will take place from 6:30-8 p.m on Wednesday. It can be viewed on a Zoom live stream and Open Door’s Facebook page. Wednesday also marks the 10 year anniversary of the Lubbock City Council's vote to make it illegal to sleep on most public property. The vote came in response to the number of people sleeping at downtown's Mahon Library. Panelists will include Quinn Paschal, who was sleeping at the Mahon Library at the time of the curfew, Dr. Nicholas Bergfeld, lead author of the Lubbock Disparity Report, Adam Pirtle of Texas Housers, Jim Beck, founder of Open Door, Andrea Omojola, Open Door COO, and Chad Wheeler, Open Door CEO. The A-J's Matt Dotray will be facilitating the discussion.
