Stock market holiday: The 30-share benchmark BSE Sensex pack surged 463 points, or 0.76 per cent, to settle at 61,112, while the broader NSE Nifty index closed 150 points, or 0.84 per cent, up at 18,065.

Stock market holiday: The 30-share benchmark BSE Sensex pack edged 38 points, or 0.06 per cent, higher to settle at 60,431 on Thursday, while the broader NSE Nifty index closed 16 points, or 0.09 per cent, up at 17,828.

The 30-share BSE Sensex pack edged 14 points or 0.02 per cent to close at 59,847; while the broader NSE Nifty index moved 25 points or 0.14 per cent up to settle at 17,624. Mid and smallcap shares finished on a strong note, with the Nifty Midcap 100 up 0.38 per cent and Nifty Smallcap 100 rising 0.28 per cent.

Stock market holiday: The equity derivative segment, equity segment and the SLB (Security Lending and Borrowing) segment would also remain closed on April 7 and April 14. Today, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) would remain shut for both morning and evening sessions.

The 30-share BSE Sensex pack jumped 1,031 points or 1.78 per cent to close at 58,992; while the broader NSE Nifty index moved 279 points or 1.63 per cent higher to settle at 17,360.

The indices opened the day higher and continued to gain to reach a high of 61,113.27 on Sensex, but pared some gains before the close. Most of the index participants were in the green

Among Sensex scrips, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Titan, Maruti Suzuki India, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Nestle were the major gainers. Power Grid, NTPC, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro and Tata Steel were the laggards.

The Indian equity benchmarks fell on Friday after rising for three-straight sessions led by losses in banking and auto stocks.
