This election was originally due to have taken place in May last year, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. His main rival, ConservativeShaun Bailey has been languishing in the polls, with a recent poll putting him 13 points behind Labour’s Mr Khan. A total of 20 candidates are standing for mayor this year, with those from mainstream parties such as the Liberal Democrats and Greens going up against everyone from former actor Lawrence Fox – running on an anti-lockdown agenda – to Count Binface.
