WACO, TX â Due to dangerous road conditions, local food pantries have been closed all week. But some individuals in Waco are refusing to let the ice stop them from making sure those in our community never have to go hungry.
Every Thursday, Shepherdâs Heart Food Pantry has a food distribution from noon to 6 p.m. Despite the dangerous road conditions, Shepherdâs Heart opened their doors early Thursday morning to make sure everyone could receive food.

BELTON TX â As thousands go without power, and many in the community are low on food and water, a small group in Belton is making a difference.
Belton s American Legion 55 has opened its doors as a shelter, even though shutting down permanently may be imminent in the coming month for the Legion.
Days prior to the historic cold front, Matt Turner, Post Commander with American Legion 55, gathered supplies with other legion members for local homeless. Turner also made a call to Belton Police Department, saying anyone finding themselves in need could come to their legion.
The hospital is currently housing patients and staff who are staying on-site to ensure top-notch patient care. Due to the added staff, the group is anticipating an excess of 250 additional meals per day needed.
