Five years ago, the International Criminal Court opened its first investigation outside the African continent, in Georgia. This is a highly symbolic investigation for Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda. She may announce the findings before she leaves in June. In this second part of our focus, Justice Info recounts the launch and the course of this highly political investigation (2016-2021).

Georgia was the first place outside the African continent selected by the International Criminal Court for investigation. Twelve years after the 2008 war, the small Caucasian country is still waiting for the ICC conclusions. But in November, the ICC s Trust Fund for Victims committed to an assistance programme, even before a case has been opened. This is another first, and perhaps, a last hope for the victims.
