Nipah virus in Kerala: Two people have succumbed to the infection, according to state health minister Veena George, who confirmed the recent “unnatural deaths” in the district were caused by the deadly virus.
State Health Minister Veena George informed the Assembly that the virus strain seen in Kerala was the Bangladesh variant that spreads from human to human and has a high mortality rate, though it is less infectious.
All arrangements are in place to contain the spread of Nipah virus which has infected four people in Kozhikode, Kerala Health Minister Veena George informed the State Assembly on Wednesday.
