Before we fully consign 2020 to the history books however, we’ve an opportunity now to reflect. And if this year was to be condensed into a story, for me it would be a tribute to how we’ve all responded to its challenges. Our NHS colleagues and those in all our emergency services have shown huge dedication in the darkest of times and continue to do so.

Nettleham Road closed after driver suffers medical episode He has been taken to hospital Emergency services blocked the road off while the man could be treated. | Photo: Robert Lenton A driver on Nettleham Road in Lincoln suffered a medical episode behind the wheel, causing the road to be closed temporarily. The road was closed between Wolsey Way junction and the A46 bypass roundabout at around 8.30am on Thursday morning. Ambulances arrived to see to the man who had suffered a “medical episode”, while police helped with the temporary road closure. The road has since been opened and the man has been taken to hospital, though it is unsure what his medical episode was.

The project for the A46 Dunholme/Welton roundabout began in July, and since then plenty of work has taken place. Almost all of the new roundabout has been constructed, along with its connections to the A46 near Dunholme and Welton. The crest of the hill on the A46 towards Market Rasen has been lowered by two metres to improve visibility, after complaints that the road had become an accident hotspot.

Here are the key developments that have been completed this year and ones which have been given the go-ahead for 2021. Lincoln Eastern bypass | Photo: Steve Smailes for The Lincolnite Opened officially on December 19, the Lincoln Eastern Bypass cost Lincolnshire County Council £120 million to build, with part of the funding coming from central government. The single carriageway bypass starts at a new roundabout on the A15 Sleaford Road and finishes at the A158 Wragby Road.
