A case has been filed against 44 people over the murder of union parishad member Rabindra Chandra Das in Noakhali's Hatiya upazila. Bangladesh govt ‘dismayed’ by Bhasan Char ‘misinformation’ Sahidul Hasan Khokon
The Bangladesh government has called on the international community, including the United Nations, to take steps to repatriate Rohingyas to Myanmar without opposing the relocation process to Bhasan Char.
The government has also said that the Rohingyas, who were relocated to Bhasan Char, decided to be shifted there voluntarily, asserting that there was no question of the use of force to relocate them .
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the numerous challenges associated with the temporary hosting of persecuted Rohingyas from Myanmar has compelled the Bangladesh government to plan the relocation of 1,00,000 Rohingyas to Bhashan Char.
Bride among 7 drowned in Noakhali trawler capsize

NOAKHALI, Dec 15, 2020 (BSS) – At least seven persons including a bride have died after a trawler carrying a wedding party capsized in the Meghna river in Noakhali’s Hatia.
“Seven bodies of the bride and children were recovered and 20 to 25 wedding guests however swam ashore by local mechanized boats in the River Megha in Hatiya of the district today.” Tankir Ghat police in charge Humayun Kabir said
The incident took place near Kearingchar area at around 1:30 when the trawler carrying around 45 bridal party left Shantirbazar Ghat in Hatiya for Daalchar of Meghna river but it could not be known immediately how many guest remained missing in this capsize.
